FACE

Glowing Complexion

There are two ways to achieve a glowing complexion. Here are your two options.

Option 1
Luminizer
Luminnizer is the last step to complete your makeup look. Apply the luminizer in the same places as you would with a highlighter; cheekbones, centre of the forehead, chin, and centre of the nose. If you have limited time in the morning, don't worry, here is a 2-in-1 step. All it takes is a little mixology. Incorporate 2-3 pumps of luminizer into your liquid foundation. Mix it together in a jar/bowl or the back of your hand. Next, apply your foundation all over your face. Once foundation has been applied, it is followed by concealer and powder to set your makeup.

Option 2
White Eye Shadow & Vaseline
This technique requires a bit more mixology then the previous option. On the back of your hand, mix white eye shadow and Vaseline together. The reason I say mix these two together on the back of your hand is so the Vasaline warms up, this way it will be much easier to apply. Once it has been mixed, and has been warmed up, smear it on the areas as you normally would with a highlighter; cheekbones, centre of the forehead, chin, and centre of the nose.

If you were to ask me which of these two options do I use, well, I prefer placing a bit of luminizer into the foundation, in other words, the two-in-one step.

Tip: Before luminizer or mixing white eye shadow with Vaseline, make sure you apply primer (if you want your makeup to last), foundation (it evens out the complexion), concealer (it covers whatever foundation has missed), and lastly, powder (it sets your makeup). Talc-free powder applied over top prevents your makeup from rubbing onto your coat; clothes etc. which you can use on its own or after you’ve powdered.

If you prefer a quick application of makeup, there are a few two-in-one steps to speed up the time of applying makeup. For example:

Cream Foundation/Concealer: this can be used as both; foundation and concealer. If you prefer liquid foundation, Make Up For Ever HD Liquid Foundation works just as well. As well as, their Duo Mat Powder; it conceals blemishes very well. I have used this powder many times when I apply makeup for television, photo shoots, and every day wear. Always tap off your makeup before applying. This prevents applying any excess product onto the face.

BROWS

Next are eye brows. With eye brow powder which is a bit thicker in consistency than eye shadow powder. If all you have is eye shadow powder, it will do just fine. With an angle brush that has the product already on it, as well as the excess formulation being tapped off, begin at the centre of the brow (the arch) and work your way to the tail of the eyebrow. With the very little product on your brush, fill in the rest of the eyebrow, which you haven’t already filled in. With a brow brush, brush the eyebrows. This also blends in the formula. To lock it in, top it off with brow seal or gel. Again, powder is natural, whereas pencil is not, as well as powder lasts much longer than pencil. Not to mention, powder is much easier to use than pencil, plus easy to correct if you had made any mistakes.

Tip: Use sponges as an eraser. It is excellent to correct any error you have made.

EYES

Brown Smoky Eyes/Natural Eye
The traditional smoky eye is out, and the more reserved, refined smoky eye is in. It can be worn day or night, so it’s also versatile.

Take your palette of neutrals, and begin with the second lightest hue. This is your base colour. Apply it all over the eye lid. Next, use the darkest shade, and apply it on the outer corner of the eye. Draw  a wing shape with a crease, so it carries on to the upper lash line, otherwise, if you draw the line at the outer corner of the eye to the mid-to - inner corner of the eye, will look like a stop and go kind of thing, it wouldn’t be very natural looking. Followed by the second darkest shade, apply this hue in the centre of the eye lid. Lastly, to brighten the eyes, as well as to look more awake, take the lightest shade and place a dot right in the inner corner of the eye. The very last step is very important, blend, blend, and blend with a crease brush. As for eye lashes, a light sweep of mascara is all you need, after you’ve curled your lashes. And of course eyeliner, use a black eyeshadow, if you don’t have an eyeliner powder. With an angle brush, draw a line across the upper lash line. Make sure the powder is dry. Powder, not only looks natural, but it also lasts much longer than pencil.

Tip: To achieve clump-free lashes, make sure you wipe off the excess product of the mascara onto a paper towel, and then apply.

OR

Just apply the second darkest brown hue on the eye lids, instead of the brown smoky eye. Either way, it is sophisticated and chic.

CHEEKS
With a light pink blush, apply the formula onto the cheekbones. The best way to discover where your cheekbones are is to smile. Apply the blush starting at the apples of the cheeks working your way to the hairline. For a fresh look, apply the product only on the apples of the cheeks in a circular motion.

Tip: To blend the blush or to remove excess product, if there is any after you have tapped off the product onto a paper towel, apply powder (there should be a bit of powder already on your powder brush, otherwise take a bit of powder), and lightly sweep it over your cheeks.

LIPS
You have options. You can follow the trend; orange lips, bright lip, burgundy lip, berry lip or plum lip. If you decide to go with these lip options, make them the vocal point, which means ditch the smoky eye. Otherwise, opt for a natural lip, which can be used for both eye looks. A natural lip includes either a nude or a light pink in lipstick form or a lip gloss. You can go with both. Place the gloss over top of your lipstick.

Tip: To lock in the formula, there are two options. You can apply lip liner afterwards, so it is natural or you can apply powder with small powder/concealer brush, or a q-tip, and outline your lips with powder. This will prevent bleeding, especially if you are wearing red lipstick.
