Natural
makeup is designed to showcase your beautiful features; not to disguise them. This
makeup look can be worn day or night with a clean eye or with a smoky eye; the
sophisticated sister of the traditional smoky eye. You can achieve this look in
minutes.
As far as
steps go, I like to keep the steps as simple as possible, so 2-in-1 products
come in handy.
Natural Makeup
Complexion: Matte or Subtle Glow Finish
Subtle Glow
For a subtle
complexion glow, mix together illuminzer and foundation or a tinted
moisturizer, for example, BB Cream together. You only need a bit of
illuminizer; two-three pumps. And, apply
with a foundation brush. This gives an even application that still allows your
skin to breathe, with quick touch ups if need be, as well as people will see
your skin and not your makeup. Tip: By removing excess product, you are
applying the right amount of makeup onto your face. Followed by a foundation
powder, as this will conceal and powder at the same time
Matte Finish
Use an HD
foundation to apply or just a powder foundation. HD foundations will act as a
foundation and cover imperfections; minimal imperfections. If you require a bit
more coverage, use a powder foundation to set the makeup, as well as to cover
anything the foundation misses.
A good,
quality powder foundation will also deliver great to excellent coverage that
you won’t need a liquid foundation. This formula will deliver three steps in
one; foundation, concealer and powder. Tip: Patting on the powder will cause
more coverage than sweeping on the product, so if you do not want heavy
coverage don’t pat it on. Tip: Powder
sets the makeup, so when you apply blush, eyeshadow it will not mix in with
your liquid, gel, cream, foam etc. foundation regardless of the texture of the
blush or eyeshadow. Powder doesn’t have to provide a cake on finish, as long as
you remove the excess product and by proper technique, such as not patting on
the powder; sweep it on.
Eyes: Clean Eyes
For a natural
eye with your eyeshadow brush pat on a light hue of brown onto the eyelids.
Blend it with a crease blush; if you do not have one, then removing excess
product is essential. Tip it off with either tightliner, or hidden liner and
mascara on upper lash line. If you also like to apply mascara on the bottom
lash line, keep it light. Tip: Hidden liner is to be applied in the inner upper
lash line. Between tightliner and hidden, this gives the illusion you have very
full lashes. Tightliner or hidden liner gives creates the illusion of full
lashes without it being too much. Tip: You do not have to apply brown
eyeshadow, you can keep the eye makeup so clean, skip the eyeshadow, and stick
with eyeliner and mascara. Tip: To turn this look from day to turn; create
brown smoky eyes. If eyeshadow has been applied, then all you have to do with a
crease blush and a shade darker than your eyelid hue, apply this darker shade
onto the crease of the eyes.
Cheeks: Cheekbones or Apples of the
Cheeks
With a peachy
or light pink blush, apply it on the cheekbones or for a youthful look on the
apples of the cheeks. When applying blush onto the cheekbones, once you have
tapped off the excess product, smile and sweep the blush over the cheekbones
beginning on the apples of the cheek working towards the hairline. Blush doesn’t
have to go hit the hairline; it can be applied half an inch before you reach it,
It still looks just as amazing as if the formula was applied to the hairline. Cream
blush is much more youthful than powder and more natural looking. With a cream
blush brush, apply cream blush after your foundation and before you powder,
this way it will blend nicely.
Lips: Pinky Nude, Nude, Peach, Light
Brown?
Nude and
pinky nude are the more suitable choice. Use a lipstick with either one of
these hues to apply onto the lips. For an intense apply the lipstick straight
from the tube, and blot. Otherwise, a lip brush will more suitable for you.
Tip: If your lips are not smooth; exfoliate them with a clean toothbrush before
application. If applying lipstick from the tube is more for you, then apply
lipstick (this goes for using the lip brush, as well) from the centre of the lips
working your way to the corner of your mouth. When you reach the corner of the
month, shift the lipstick to the top pointy side and apply. Either use lip
liner of the same colour of lipstick you’ve opted to use after application, so
it looks more natural, or use a powder to line the edges of your lips. This,
too, just like lip liner prevents any feathering. Tip: Dust on a light amount
of powder (whatever is left on your powder brush) over top of your lips to
prolong the wear of lipstick. As for texture, matte is ideal. You can also have
a subtle shine with a creamy lipstick (it will also provide some moisture into
the lips.
